Core Disciples

Haven't taken part in our Core Disciples meetings so far? It's not too late! Below are audio and print materials from the following meetings:

December 3 Core Discipleship Meeting
September 4 Core Discipleship Meeting
May 9 Core Discipleship Meeting

“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

"Building the Kingdom of God Here and Now"

Our strategy for extending our ministries and outreach is to strengthen and grow the number of "core disciples" at Saint Andrew: those adults, teens and families who are striving to follow Christ and engaged in the life of the parish. Our first priority is to be sure these disciples are "fed" and supported in their vocations and ministries, and then that they feel called and equipped to invite others to discipleship. Too often in parishes, the same people are called upon to do more and more, because the focus is on bigger events and more people in the pews, rather than growing the number of active disciples and letting the big numbers take care of themselves.

To achieve this, in Spring 2018 we began a series of Core Discipleship meetings, inviting volunteer leaders, parish staff, and those active in parish ministries, as well as all parish families, to grow deeper in their own commitment to following Jesus and witnessing to a lived faith, and encouraging them to look for God's gifts in others and invite them to intentional discipleship and active ministry.
