Saints for Moms Study Group

Mothers of all ages are invited to join a Saints Study on the book A Book of Saints for Catholic Moms by Lisa Hendey. The chapters are short but packed with valuable insights to live out your vocation as a mother and deepen your spiritual life.

Every chapter is on a different saint which generates new discussion at every meeting. We hope you can join us (even if it only works out sparingly). All are welcome! RSVP to Alyssa Swanson if you would like to be included in this group!

Here are the details:
What: Saints for Moms Study
When: Tuesday evenings starting October 8
Where: Meeting Room 3
Time: 6:30-8:00 PM
What to bring: Please bring your bible and the book to every group (you can purchase the book on Amazon or a second hand book site). We will start each evening with a Gospel Reflection and dive into what spoke to us from the chapter.

RSVP: If you plan to join this small group (even if you know you can only attend periodically) please contact Alyssa Swanson (alyssaswanson424@gmail.com) so we can send you emails with book study reminders, dates, etc.

About the book (reference from Amazon):
Author, Lisa Hendey, offers one saint per week--some famous, some lesser known, some whose cause is in process--to offer companionship and guidance for the challenging, often under-thanked vocation of Catholic motherhood. She introduces Therese of Lisieux, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Patrick, as well as Gianna Beretta Molla and Chiara Badano. Each week offers a thematic prayer intention,
biographical and devotional information about the saint, lessons learned, daily scripture meditations, prayers, and practical, spiritually rich action steps that help moms incorporate the wisdom and exemplary faith of each saint.

Lay Pastoral Caregiver Training

Bridge Builders for a Thriving Mission invites you to consider this training.  Every ministry needs good listeners and caregivers. For example, whether for homebound ministry, youth ministry, hospitality or new mothers. Consider strengthening your community with good listening and pastoral care.

Training begins October 18-19 at The Abbey Guest House.

This training is at no cost to ACCs in the St. Cloud Diocese. Companioning one another spiritually is one of the most important ministries of a faith community. The vision of this project is to equip teams of compassionate listeners who are steeped in Benedictine spirituality. Participants who complete the process will be well prepared to offer pastoral care in various settings, form prayerful caregiver communities within their ACCs, and lovingly practice being a non-judgmental listening presence to whomever they encounter in daily life.
