Last weekend we celebrated the end of the Easter season with the Feast of Pentecost. Often referred to as the birthday of the Church, it was at Pentecost that the Holy Spirit came in fullness upon the Apostles and poured out His gifts, enabling them to proclaim the Kingdom of God with courage and charity to all people.

In his homily, Fr. Mark emphasized that our soul needs the Holy Spirit to be active in the way it is called to be. He compared it to a spring welling up within us to sustain us in a communion of love and life and to enable us to live for God alone as we are called. Similarly, in Fr. Newton's homily, he explained that the Holy Spirit is not known for what He looks like, but what He does and how those things impact the world. Both homilies emphasized transformation: The Holy Spirit calls and empowers us to live differently.
