Readings and Homilies for the Weekend of Feb. 3-4, 2018 (English and Español)
In the readings for last weekend, we heard Job speak of his suffering and St. Paul, about making himself weak in order to reach out to the weak. In the Gospel, Jesus reaches out to heal Simon's mother-in-law and countless others, addressing their physical and spiritual illnesses. Fr. Mark emphasized in his homilies the ways in which the healing hand of Jesus reaches into our lives even now—and in his Catholic Schools Week homily, he focused particularly on the parish school's ability to let Jesus in. Fr. Newton's homily focused on the mystery of suffering and the ways in which illness and other forms of suffering show us that we are not self-sufficient and draw us closer to God and each other. Listen to them all below!
