On the weekend of June 8-9, 2019, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, the "birthday" of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, during which the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and Mary like tongues of fire, and they were give the courage and ability to preach the Good News to all. This weekend we also have three baptisms, a 50th wedding anniversary and renewal of vows, and our annual mission appeal speaker, so Fr. Newton kept his homily very short, inviting us to reflect on the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives today.
Tom Chitta from the Foundation for Children in Need, a Catholic lay organization serving the poor in rural India, gave a compelling witness for the importance of prayer and monetary support of their work.
