On the weekend of October 26-27, 2019, the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we heard the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, in which Jesus illustrates that humility and repentance before the Lord leads to justification. Fr. Mark's homily cautions us to be mindful of God's grace and how He takes care of us in everything, even when we make mistakes or don't deserve it. The good things we do are opportunities to grow in God's grace, but must not be ends in themselves, sources of pride or power, that we lord over others.
