Readings and Homilies for October 20-21, 2018 (English and Español)

6zrez715izokue1cqrlmxmrqxpl.jpgLast weekend we heard the readings for the Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time, in which the apostles James and John seek places of honor in heaven, but Jesus teaches that the greatest among His followers will be the least and the servant of all. Fr. Mark's homily emphasized the difference between worldly ideas of greatness and the Christian idea of service in charity. Jesus reminds His followers that the greatness they seek is not what they think; they won't fully understand what He means until He washes their feet and gives His life on the cross. Father reminds us that we, too, are called to pour ourselves out in love for the salvation of the world. It is in this that we achieve our greatness.
