On the weekend of May 4-5, 2019, we celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter with the gospel account of the fishing Apostles and the appearance of Jesus on the shore. The Lord brings about a miraculous catch of fish, cooks them breakfast, and three times asks Simon Peter to recommit to his role as leader and disciple. In his homily, Fr. Newton list three themes in the readings for the Mass:
- Proclamation: proclaiming Jesus by our words
- Witness: bearing witness to Jesus by our lives
- Worship: worshipping Jesus with all our hearts
Jesus' words to Peter to feed His sheep apply to all of us, Father says: "One cannot proclaim the gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of our lives." This witness of a lived faith stems from "daily closeness and intense relationship" with Jesus, worshipping Him as savior and God.
