On the weekend of August 31-September 1, 2019, we celebrated the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, in which Jesus admonishes those attending a banquet not to seek the seats of honor, but to humble themselves. Fr. Rick's homily focuses our attention on receiving, with gratitude, the gifts God has actually given us in this life, and not pridefully placing ourselves beyond or ahead of Him. In Fr. Mark's homily, he speaks of humility as the pathway that leads to our true self. When we know our strengths and weaknesses, we free ourselves of masks and can embrace the life God has given us.
