On the weekend of August 10-11, 2019, we celebrated the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time, in which Jesus urges his disciples to be vigilant and persevering in their faith. On Saturday evening, we also celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving for Saint Andrew's own Fr. Gregory Crane, who was ordained to the priesthood earlier this summer.
Fr. Mark's homily speaks of the journey of faith, the destination of which is the place in heaven which God has created for each of us. Faith guides us with the signposts of scripture, tradition and the sacraments; when we need guidance and know-how, God provides, and with time and experience we gain the wisdom of faith ourselves.
Fr. Gregory's homily described the transformative power of faith, which change the entire life of Abraham and the world. Without faith, even Jesus's power in this world is diminished, but with faith, we touch Jesus, and his power changes us and our efforts into something new and great.
