Please Welcome Our New Principal!

fzon0gost113w0n02lh263sfnhl.pngGreat news! Saint Andrew Catholic Church and School has hired Ann Dettmann to be the parish school's new principal. She is a faithful Catholic in her 30th year as an educator and will officially start in her role on August 1.

Below is a letter our new principal wrote to share with the community:

Hello!  My name is Ann Dettmann, and I am honored to have been selected to be the principal of Saint Andrew Catholic School. I thought I'd share a bit about myself.

My husband, Dave, and I have three children.  Our two boys, Erich, and Karl, are adults living on their own.  Our daughter, Emma, is heading to Minnesota State University Moorhead this fall.  That leaves just our cat, Trouble, to look after at home.  We enjoy watching mysteries, taking trips to all the beautiful towns in Minnesota, and playing board games.

My Catholic faith is very important to me.  I am so grateful that God loves me and sent His son to save me, and I hope some day to be welcomed into heaven.  I am grateful for the chance to serve Him through this school and through all His lambs that attend it.   I also am active in my home parish, Church of the Ascension.  One of my favorite saints is St. Therese, who used her "little way" to do small things with love.

This will be my 30th year in education.  Most of those years I was a teacher in Shakopee. I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.   I also spent some time as a literacy coordinator, an intervention coordinator, an instructional coach, and a dean of students.  For the past three years I have been the principal of BOLD Elementary in Bird Island.  I am passionate about  fostering a love for reading, helping students grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically, partnering with families on our mission, and nurturing staff members to continually refine the art of teaching.  I feel called to be a principal, and I love it!

I have seen the beautiful school we have and have met many welcoming people of this community.  I can see this is a place where God is adored and where joy is found!  I look forward to meeting you all and to discovering all the wonderful things that Saint Andrew's has to offer.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ann Dettmann, principal

When you see her, please welcome her to Saint Andrew, and of course, please pray for her needs and those of our school.
