Welcoming Committee
Two times a year, the welcoming committee plans a Sunday where new parishioners are recognized at the Liturgy. The new parishioners are given a yellow carnation to wear at Mass and asked to stand during the recognition at the end of Mass. Following those liturgies, refreshments are provided in the school cafeteria and all parishioners are invited to socialize with the new members.
The committee meets several times a year to plan the welcoming Sundays and follow up meetings to assess the effectiveness of the welcoming Sundays. The committee is also in the process of expanding their horizons now to determine a process to welcome back alienated Catholics. We are presently in the process of brainstorming on effective strategies to pursue.
New members and new ideas are always welcome.
