Readings and Homilies for the Weekend of July 21-22, 2018 (English and Español)

yeg31d0ll9v5o0h2h4kmoodh9bl.jpgLast weekend we celebrated the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, featuring the gospel account of inviting his followers to a deserted place to rest, only to find the crowds waiting for Him when they arrive, "like sheep without a shepherd." Deacon Fred recounted the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who preached peace,  lived under constant attention and threat, and wanted rest—but who found the strength from God to continue to be compassionate and shepherd his people. We are called to be shepherds and as Pope Francis reminds us, to smell like the sheep: to get involved in the lives of others, even when we are tired and the work is unpleasant.
