On the weekend of March 2-3, 2019, we celebrated the Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time, in which Jesus challenges us to address our own sins before looking to the sins of others. Providentially, it was also Safe Haven Sunday, in which the Diocese of St. Cloud asked parishes to talk about the scourge of pornography in our society and ways of rooting this sin from our lives and keeping it away from our children and out of our homes.
Fr. Newton delivered the English homilies over the weekend, offering perspective on the problem of pornography here and in India and providing several ideas for battling to protect our purity, including praying the Rosary or the Novena for Purity, receiving Jesus in the Eucharist and adoring Him in Adoration, studying sacred scripture, fasting, regular Confession, and, for men in particular, turning to St. Joseph, "a great companion and example of what it means to be a man of faith, strength and purity."
