Readings and Homilies for January 26-27, 2019 (English and Español)

8jfc9kkpx9mje9nxmg3sb206cml.jpgOn the weekend of January 26-27, we hear the account from Luke's gospel of Jesus going to the synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth and proclaiming Isaiah's prophesy fulfilled...by Him!

In Fr. Mark's homily, he emphasized the great gift of the Word of God, which, when believed, has the power to make us children of God. Father told a story of a young man who left his home and family because he wanted something from this world that he thought would make him happy, not realizing that his father had his best interests at heart all along.

Fr. Newton's homily emphasizes that it was no coincidence Jesus proclaimed that particular scripture passage, but that as listeners to the Word of God, we need to be open to truly listen and repent. If we are open to God's words, every day can become the day of our salvation.

Fr. Mark also mentioned that the booklet "Celebrating Sundays for Catholic Families" is available in the Gathering Area for all parish families -- but it looks like we may have run out. We have placed a full box by the Faith Formation table near Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Gathering Area today -- please take them for families who need them!
