Readings and Homilies for Dec. 23-24, 2017 (English only)

This past weekend we celebrated the fourth Sunday in Advent, when we light the final candle on our Advent wreaths and, this year, anticipate the coming of Christmas already on Sunday evening and Monday morning. (Due to the quick turnaround and extra Masses with Christmas, we did not have a Spanish Mass last weekend.)

Fr. Matthew Crane's homily reflected on the tradition of the Angelus and the tremendous emphasis the Church, and even the world, puts on the birth of Jesus Christ—so much so that history has been divided based upon His coming, B.C. for Before Christ and A.D. for Anno Domini, or the Year of the Lord. In Fr. Newton's homily, he reminds us that although King David wanted to build a temple, God gives shelter to the world and not the other way around.  Fr. Mark's homily asks the question, "What difference does it make that God is in your life?" and reminds us that nothing is more practical or life-altering than finding Him.
