CCW Just Warming Up With Bake Sale This Weekend!

While the Saint Andrew Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is hosting a Holiday Bake Sale at the church this weekend, they want parishioners—especially women—to know they are just warming up.

What: Holiday Bake Sale

When: Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16-17, after all Masses

Where: Church of Saint Andrew

CCW members will be selling baked goods and treats in the gathering area after all Masses this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16 and 17, to raise funds for council priorities, including support for seminarians (gas cards, etc.), gifts and an annual reception for the parish’s Confirmation students, and their annual Fall Get Acquainted Gathering.  Anyone interested in donating baked goods for this weekend’s sale should drop them off at the church by noon on Saturday.

Paula Boesch, CCW co-president, says the council was inactive for a period of time, but regrouped and elected new officers in September 2016. They are looking to grow, both in membership and in engagement in the life and mission of the parish. In early October, they held their annual Get Acquainted Gathering to raise awareness of the council among prospective members.

The CCW gathers each month in the Saint Andrew Catholic School cafeteria, beginning with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. The council’s January meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with a speaker from Pacem In Terris hermitage retreat center. The February meeting will be on Monday, Feb. 20, with seminarian Tom Skaja speaking.   The council hopes to have a large turnout to hear the presenters at both of these meetings. There is no need to RSVP—simply come to the cafeteria to meet and pray with the council.

“We would love to see more women in the parish join us,” says Boesch. “We’re beginning to put together a vision for what we would like to do, and we want everyone to be involved.”
